The Cracks Are Already Beginning To Show
Forgive. A perfumed breeze whispered.
Walking through my enchanted forest, I watch the leaves taking a plunge from the trees and gathering on the ground creating this mythical multicolor carpet to welcome its visitors. The birds sing hello, dancing their way onto warmer lands.
Autumn has a way of reminding me of my own mortality Exist in one moment, be gone in the next. Memento Mori. Living everyday as if it’s your last. For the few minutes that I can actually do that, I get transported to a realm where everything around me is magical. Much like the brown leaves as they take their last breath before floating away. Tumbling and swirling pirouettes in mid air until they reach their final destination.
In my mouth, the bitter taste of betrayal. Before my eyes, the incredible miracle called LIFE.
The soft breeze is now a strong wind and not a whisper I hear, but a shout! LIFE IS FLEETING!
I look back and I see a phantom. It mimics me. It looks back as I look back at it and I can’t see it’s face.
The wind holds me in it’s warm embrace. I shut my eyes and watch it as it blows the phantom away from me. Our eyes meet and the shadow reaches out in my direction. me. I see a ring of violet bruises pinned upon its arm. And before disappearing back into the forest, it pulls out the black veil that covered my spirit.
My heartache disappears.
Forgive, said my friend, the wind, lovingly taking me by the hand. Not enough time to be wasted on grudges.
